Mr S
From previous jobs, Mr S had several pensions that produced vast amounts of paperwork. He had no idea how his money was invested, what his options at retirement would look like or what he would receive once he started to take benefits. In addition, his investments took no account of his attitude to risk, and he felt he had no control over investment decisions.
He arranged an initial meeting to discuss his existing pension arrangements. With the new ‘pension freedoms’ it was important he understood his options and that he was fully informed of his options at retirement.
He wanted to know what he owned within his pensions (his portfolio), and in what proportion – his asset allocation. He was unsure about the outlook for his portfolio with the current allocation and doubted that it would achieve the desired target. Mr S did not understand ‘attitude to risk’ and how an investment portfolio was constructed with different asset classes and geographical funds, this was all a valuable education and insight for him. An insight that would enable him to make an informed and educated decision.
After two meetings, several discussions and our written report, he was happy to go ahead with Admiral Wealth Management. We moved all his pensions into one of our model portfolios, the investment portfolio was crafted to meet his attitude to risk and provide excellent diversification through the asset structure. And with ongoing stewardship of his investments, he’s clear about his target. In consultation with us, he has control of investment decisions, ongoing reviews, regular reports and rebalancing of his investment portfolio.
He will now benefit from new pension rules , and in the event of his death, the pension scheme trustee will be aware of his wishes – a change from his previous pension arrangements. He gets online access to information about his pension as well as concise, regular reports. Finally, he now receives very little paperwork and importantly he is just a phone call away from speaking to one of our experienced advisers.
